Koloman Sokol (*December 12, 1902, Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia – †January 12, 2003, Tucson, Arizona, USA) was one of the most important figures in Slovak visual arts. He founded both Slovak and Mexican printmaking and created numerous illustrations. In this work, I depict Koloman Sokol as a figure looking through a frame. This representation highlights his unique perspective on the world and art. The frame acts as a filter, shaping his imagination and vision. It symbolizes his inner world, Kaburaba, where he distanced himself from evil and set his own existential boundaries. Sokol gazes toward the sky, searching for truth, justice, and meaning. When creating this sculpture, I followed a similar approach to his own artistic methods. My goal was not to create a realistic likeness but to capture a reflection of his inner self, life, and creative spirit.
